R-Value
R-value is a measure of how well a material resists heat transfer, basically, how effective it is as insulation. The higher the R-value, the better the material is at slowing down heat flow. R-values are important when selecting insulation for roofs, walls and floors and are a key component of energy compliance in Australian homes. In design, we consider R-values alongside things like glazing performance and shading so that the home is comfortable year-round and not overly reliant on active heating and cooling.
