Architectural Package
An architectural package is the full set of drawings and documents that your builder, certifier and council rely on to understand exactly what’s being built. It’s the bridge between the design vision and what actually happens on site. A typical package includes floor plans, site plans, elevations, sections and detailed electrical and lighting layouts. For projects going through DA (via council) or CDC (via a private certifier) in Sydney, these drawings must be accurate, coordinated and compliant with the Building Code of Australia (BCA). A good package also includes a Schedule of Finishes that specifies every visible material, from roofing and cladding down to floor finishes and handles. Without this level of detail, builders are forced to guess, which is where budgets can blow out. I like to think of the architectural package as the “manual” for your home: it tells every trade exactly what’s going where and the level of quality expected.
