Facade
The facade is the main outward-facing exterior of your home, essentially its “face” to the street. It’s made up of windows, doors, cladding, roof shapes, colours and details like balustrades and eaves. Because it’s constantly exposed to Sydney’s sun, wind and rain, the facade needs durable, appropriate materials as well as good proportions and balance. Window sizes and placement, the mix of solid and transparent elements, and the way materials are combined all affect how the house feels from the outside. When I redesign a facade, I’m looking to improve both performance and presentation, so the home feels more current, welcoming and coherent with the interior.
